First Step: Core Curriculum
You'll begin your training with a Defensive Firearm Course in the weapon of your choice. You can choose Defensive Handgun Course (the most popular option), Defensive Rifle Course, or Defensive Shotgun Course. These courses are four days in length, typically taught in two weekend sessions. After completing your four days of training, you will become proficient in the core defensive shooting curriculum, receiving comprehensive training in a range of shooting related topics. These courses are designed for shooters of any skill level, and train you to a skill level beyond what most schools teach in their "advanced" courses. Even if this is the only course you ever take from Guncraft, a Defensive Firearm Course will give you a higher level of training than standard law enforcement or military training, and well beyond the skill of 90% of gun owners. We are so confident of that fact, we guarantee you will significantly improve your proficiency and confidence with your firearm.

Ongoing Practice and Improvement: Skill Builders
A Skill Builder course is a 3-hour practice and coaching session that allows you to practice what you have learned through a wide range of practical exercises and drills, while receiving valuable coaching from experienced Guncraft instructors. Coming to a Skill Builder regularly is a great way to stay fresh and improve your speed and consistency. A Skill Builder also gives you the opportunity to demonstrate the necessary proficiency to attend higher-level courses.

Learn Additional Weapon Platforms: Cross-Trainers
If you are interested in learning to use additional types of firearms, a Cross-Trainer class is a great option for you. A Cross-Trainer is a fast-paced, condensed 2-day class that takes the knowledge you gained in your Defensive Firearm Class and teaches you to apply it to a weapon type. Cross-Trainers omit redundant information, teach at an accelerated pace, and focus on gun handling and shooting skills. This allows you to learn all the techniques taught in a 4-day Defensive Firearm Course in only 2 days. For example, if you took Defensive Handgun as your core class, you might take a Shotgun Cross-Trainer. This would give you all the skills taught in Defensive Shotgun, consolidated into a 2-day format.

The Next Levels: Intermediate and Advanced Courses
If you have demonstrated the requisite level of proficiency with your gun on a Guncraft Standard Skills Test, you may then move on Intermediate and Advanced Courses with your firearm. During these courses, you will learn advanced and specialized techniques that will make you a true master of defensive shooting. The training will become more stress-filled and unpredictable, and will require you to think on your feet. This is a level of training that only a very few undergo, and even fewer master, even among those who carry a gun for a living.

Broaden Your Knowledge: Tactics Courses
Beyond knowing how to shoot, a knowledge of individual tactical movement and technique will give you an even greater edge in a violent encounter. Tactics courses focus less on shooting and more on problem-solving, decision-making, and using your environment to give yourself an advantage in a gunfight. Designed for the average citizen in everyday circumstances, Tactics courses help you tip the scales in your favor under realistic conditions that you might experience in your daily life.

The Pinnacle: Scenario Training
The Scenarios class does not teach you any new skills. Instead, it tests your ability to use what you have learned on the fly, under the most realistic conditions possible other than an actual gunfight! Using simulated ammunition, you will match wits and marksmanship against living, thinking opponents who shoot back. This is the closest thing you can get to a real violent encounter, and it will teach you valuable lessons about yourself and where your skills are strongest and weakest. In the end, it will give you the confidence of knowing that you can prevail against a criminal attack.
