Class Equipment Requirements
Handgun
Defensive semi-automatic or revolver, 9mm or larger caliber. Trigger must be at least 4 lbs. All safety features of the weapon must function properly. We recommend standard pistol sights on the gun. 2 magazines or speed loaders for the weapon are required, at least 3 recommended. No single-action revolvers.
Rifle
Any modern semi-automatic, bolt-action or lever-action rifle, .223 or larger caliber. Trigger must be at least 4 lbs. All safety features of the weapon must function properly. We recommend standard iron rifle sights. 2 magazines for semi-auto weapons are required, at least 3 recommended. Sling required, 2-point or tactical.
Shotgun
Semi-auto or pump-action shotgun, 12 or 20 gauge. Trigger must be at least 4 lbs. All safety features of the weapon must function properly. Bead, rifle-style, or ghost-ring sights are recommended. Sling required, 2-point or tactical.
Ammunition
Factory-loaded ammo, FMJ, JHP, or soft-point. For shotgun courses, birdshot or buckshot can be used for most practice, but buckshot is required for some exercises. 00 buckshot is recommended. No steel projectiles, incendiary rounds, or tracers.
Holster
Firing-side belt holster. Holster must fully cover the trigger guard of the weapon when the weapon is holstered. Holster must retain its shape when the weapon is withdrawn. Kydex or other rigid material is recommended. Holster should be worn on the point of the firing-side hip. No Serpa or similar holsters that require the use of the trigger finger to disengage the retention device.
Magazine Pouch
One- or two-magazine capacity pouch. We recommend open style pouches with passive retention. Kydex or other rigid material is recommended. The magazine pouch should be worn on the support-side hip.
Safety Equipment
Eye protection with side impact protection. Hearing protection; electronic hearing protection is recommended to ensure you can hear the range commands and instructors during shooting exercises. Hat with a brim that faces forward to protect the face from flying brass.
